三分钟英语小故事 篇一
The Lost Wallet
Once upon a time, there was a young man named Jack who lived in a small town. One day, while walking to work, he found a wallet lying on the ground. Jack picked it up and opened it to see if there was any identification inside. To his surprise, he found a large sum of money along with some credit cards and identification.
Jack was faced with a dilemma. He knew that the wallet belonged to someone and that they would be desperately looking for it. On the other hand, he was struggling financially and could really use the money. After some thought, Jack decided to do the right thing and return the wallet.
He found an ID card inside the wallet and discovered that it belonged to a man named Mr. Brown. Jack quickly searched for Mr. Brown's contact information and called him. Mr. Brown was overjoyed to hear that his wallet had been found and thanked Jack for his honesty. They decided to meet at a nearby café to return the wallet.
When they met, Mr. Brown offered Jack a reward for returning his wallet. Jack politely declined, saying that he was just doing what he believed was right. Mr. Brown was impressed by Jack's integrity and insisted on giving him a small token of appreciation. He handed Jack an envelope and asked him not to open it until he got home.
Curiosity got the better of Jack, and as soon as he arrived home, he opened the envelope. To his surprise, it contained a check for a significant amount of money. Along with the check, there was a note from Mr. Brown, expressing his gratitude and admiration for Jack's honesty.
Jack was overwhelmed with gratitude and felt a great sense of fulfillment. He realized that doing the right thing not only brought him joy but also unexpected rewards. From that day on, Jack made a promise to himself to always choose honesty and integrity no matter the circumstances.
The Lost Wallet story teaches us the importance of honesty and doing the right thing, even when faced with temptation. It shows that honesty is always rewarded, whether through the gratitude of others or the personal satisfaction it brings.
