Title: Embracing Diversity in University

Ladies and gentlemen, esteemed professors, and fellow students,

Today, I would like to talk about the importance of embracing diversity in university. As we all know, university is a melting pot of cultures, backgrounds, and ideas. It is a place where students come from all walks of life to pursue knowledge and prepare for their future careers. Therefore, it is crucial that we create an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and respected.

Firstly, embracing diversity in university enriches the learning experience. When we interact with individuals from different backgrounds, we are exposed to a variety of perspectives and ideas. This diversity of thought promotes critical thinking and encourages us to challenge our own beliefs. By engaging in discussions with people who have different opinions and experiences, we broaden our understanding of the world and become more open-minded individuals.

Secondly, embracing diversity fosters cultural understanding and appreciation. University campuses are filled with students from different countries and ethnicities. By interacting with these individuals, we have the opportunity to learn about their cultures, traditions, and customs. This not only expands our knowledge of the world but also helps to break down stereotypes and prejudices. Through cultural exchange, we develop empathy and respect for others, creating a harmonious campus environment.

Lastly, embracing diversity prepares us for the globalized world. In today's interconnected world, it is essential to have the skills to work effectively with people from different backgrounds. By embracing diversity in university, we develop important interpersonal skills such as communication, collaboration, and adaptability. These skills are highly valued by employers and will benefit us in our future careers.

So, how can we embrace diversity in university? Firstly, we should actively seek opportunities to interact with students from different backgrounds. Joining international student clubs, participating in cultural events, and taking part in exchange programs are all great ways to meet people from diverse cultures. Additionally, we should challenge our own biases and be open to learning from others. By actively listening and engaging in respectful discussions, we can promote understanding and create a welcoming atmosphere for everyone.

In conclusion, embracing diversity in university is not only beneficial for our individual growth but also for the overall campus environment. By valuing and respecting the different perspectives and backgrounds of our fellow students, we create an inclusive and enriching learning environment. Let us embrace diversity and create a university experience that celebrates the uniqueness of each individual.

Thank you.

Title: The Importance of Mental Health in University

Ladies and gentlemen, esteemed professors, and fellow students,

Today, I would like to discuss the importance of mental health in university. University life can be both exciting and challenging, and it is crucial that we prioritize our mental well-being during this period of our lives.

Firstly, mental health is essential for academic success. When we are mentally healthy, we are better able to concentrate, retain information, and perform well in our studies. On the other hand, when we neglect our mental health, it can lead to increased stress, anxiety, and decreased motivation. By taking care of our mental well-being, we can optimize our academic performance and achieve our goals.

Secondly, mental health affects our overall well-being and quality of life. University can be a time of significant life changes, such as leaving home, adapting to a new environment, and managing increased responsibilities. These changes can be overwhelming and can take a toll on our mental health. It is important to prioritize self-care and seek support when needed. Taking the time to engage in activities that bring us joy, practicing mindfulness or meditation, and seeking help from counseling services can all contribute to our overall well-being and happiness.

Furthermore, mental health issues are prevalent among university students. According to recent studies, a significant number of students experience symptoms of depression, anxiety, and stress during their time at university. It is vital that we recognize the signs of mental health problems and actively support each other. Encouraging open conversations about mental health, promoting awareness campaigns, and providing access to mental health resources can help reduce the stigma surrounding mental health and ensure that students receive the support they need.

Lastly, prioritizing mental health in university sets the foundation for a healthy and balanced future. The habits we develop during our university years will carry over into our professional lives. By learning to manage stress, seek support, and practice self-care, we are equipping ourselves with important tools for our future careers and personal lives.

In conclusion, mental health is of utmost importance in university. By prioritizing our mental well-being, we can optimize our academic performance, improve our overall well-being, and set the foundation for a healthy future. Let us create a supportive and understanding environment where mental health is valued and resources are readily available.

Thank you.

In my 18 years of life, there have been many things. University days are the best part of them. I can never forget the days when I stepped into my university. I was impressed by its garden-like campus, its enthusiastic students and especially its learning atmosphere. I at once fell in love with it.

After the arduous military training, I get absolutely absorbed in my studies. The classes given by the teachers are excellent. They provide us with information not only from our textbooks but from many other sources as well. They easily arouse my insatiable desire to take in as much as I can.

Frankly speaking, at first I had some difficulty following the teachers. However, through my own efforts and thanks to my teachers' guidance, I made remarkable progress. Now I've benefited a lot from lectures and many other academic reports.

Learning is a long process; I'll keep exploring in the treasure house of knowledge to enrich myself. This summer I got out of the ivory tower and entered the real world. A publishing house offered me a part-time job in compilation and revision.

At the beginning I was belittled by my colleagues. But they were really surprised when I translated seven English articles over 5,000 words on only one day. Gradually, they began to look at me with respectful eyes. In their opinion I turned out to be a useful and trustworthy colleague.

I also realize that only those who bring happiness for others can be truly happy. So I often take part in activities concerning public welfare. I once went to a barren mountain village with my classmates. We taught the kids there who could not afford school. While showing them how broad and how civilized the outer world is, I was deeply touched by their eagerness to learn, their honesty and their purity. I couldn't control my tears on the day when we left. The precious experience with the poor kids made me aware of the responsibility on the shoulders of us, future teachers.

Besides study and social practice, there are entertainments as well. I do body building every day, hoping to keep healthy and energetic. We also write a play and put it on in our spare time.

Campus life is the most splendid time. But different people have different choices. The majority of students cherish their beautiful season and cherish the hope that one

day they'll become outstanding. But there are indeed some students still under ignorance. They gather together for eating, drinking or playing cards. They're busy in searching for a girlfriend or a boyfriend. They forget completely about their mission as college students and the hope of their motherland.

Finally, I do hope everybody can try their best to become a worthy citizen of the country. I do hope everybody can become the backbone of our nation and make great contributions to society!

Good afternoon, honorable judges, dear teachers & friends.

I'm Lai Senhan from the University of International Business & Economics. Do you know what date is it today? Today is the Olympic Date. I'm so glad to stand here today to share my idea about Beijing Olympic Games together with you all. The title of my speech is: what can we do for Beijing Olympic Games?

First of all, let me tell you a story that happened 2 years ago. At the end of August, 2007, when I decided to come to Beijing for study, my friends hel* * **rewell Party for me. They said: after your graduation, you should look for a job in Beijing, and then in 2008, we shall go to visit you during the Olympic Games. I laughed and answered: OK, no problem!

Time flied and 2 years passed. Now I am a graduate. My teachers and classmates always ask me: what's your plan after your graduation? Go back home, stay in Beijing, or go to some other places? And I always answer: I will stay in Beijing. I make this decision not because of my promise to my friends 2 years ago, but because: I've fallen in love with Beijing! I'm eager to welcome the coming Olympic Games together with my fellow countrymen, and I wish I could do something for the Olympics & for the city.

As we know, Beijing will host the 29th Summer Olympic Games in 2008. As a Chinese, I think many people are thinking: what we can do for Beijing Olympic Games. Most of us are not athletes, we cannot take part in competitions directly; we are not officials either, we don't need to do the preparatory work. We are only ordinary people, what we can do!

There are still so many things we can do! For example, for me, I am a graduate majoring Business English. As far as I am concerned, I will keep on learning English hard, and apply for being a volunteer. I will use English to serve the Games together with other volunteers. And also, as a businessman at that time, I will avail myself of the great commercial opportunities that the Olympics brings to us, make more efforts to offer my contribution to the growth of our national economy.

And for all of us, with the goal to host a Green Olympics, we shall plant more trees, grass & flowers. Don't waste water. In order to alleviate the problems of air pollution & traffic congestions, we shall take buses & subways more. With the goal to host a People's Olympics, and in order to make our Olympics more attractive and to make our Beijing more beautiful, we shall help everyone we meet who needs help, we shall abide by traffic rules, don't smoke in public and no spitting. The most important way for our Chinese to support our Beijing Olympic Games, in my opinion, is to work hard on our duties.
