An Unforgettable Experience
Last summer, I had the opportunity to participate in a volunteer project in a rural village. It was an unforgettable experience that opened my eyes to a whole new world.
Upon arriving at the village, I was immediately struck by the simplicity and beauty of the surroundings. The villagers lived a humble life, relying on farming as their main source of income. They welcomed us with open arms and showed us their way of life.
During my time there, I was assigned to work in the local school. The lack of resources and facilities was evident, but the passion and dedication of the teachers and students were truly inspiring. I helped with various activities such as teaching English, organizing games, and renovating the classrooms. It was rewarding to see the smiles on the children's faces as they learned new things and interacted with us.
One particular moment that stands out in my memory is when I had the chance to visit a student's home. His family was one of the poorest in the village, living in a small hut with no electricity or running water. Despite their difficult circumstances, they welcomed me warmly and treated me like family. It was a humbling experience to witness their resilience and kindness.
Throughout my time in the village, I also had the opportunity to immerse myself in the local culture. I learned traditional dances, tasted authentic local dishes, and listened to the villagers' stories. I was amazed by their strong sense of community and their ability to find joy in the simplest things.
Leaving the village was bittersweet. On one hand, I was sad to say goodbye to the friends I had made and the experiences I had gained. On the other hand, I left with a newfound appreciation for the opportunities and privileges I have in my own life. The experience taught me the importance of giving back and helping those in need.
In conclusion, my time in the rural village was an unforgettable experience that opened my eyes to the realities of life for many people. It taught me the value of gratitude, compassion, and the power of community. I will always cherish the memories and the lessons I learned during my time there.

A Life-Changing Encounter
Several years ago, I had a life-changing encounter that I will never forget. It happened during a trip to a bustling city, where I had the opportunity to meet a group of homeless people who changed my perspective on life.
As I walked through the city streets, I couldn't help but notice the number of people living on the sidewalks. Their tattered clothes and empty eyes spoke volumes about their struggles and hardships. Intrigued and compelled to understand their stories, I decided to approach one of them and strike up a conversation.
The man I approached, named John, had been living on the streets for several years. He shared his journey with me, explaining how he had lost his job, his family, and eventually his home. Listening to his story, I realized that homelessness could happen to anyone, regardless of their background or circumstances.
John introduced me to his friends who were also living on the streets. We spent the day together, talking, sharing meals, and exchanging stories. As I got to know them better, I was struck by their resilience, optimism, and kindness. Despite their difficult situation, they still found joy in the simplest things and looked out for one another.
That day, I learned a valuable lesson about human connection and empathy. The homeless individuals I met taught me that everyone has a story worth hearing and that a simple act of kindness can make a significant impact. They reminded me of the importance of gratitude and appreciating the things we often take for granted.
Since that encounter, I have made it a point to give back to my community and help those in need. I volunteer at local shelters, donate to organizations that support the homeless, and try to spread awareness about the issue. I have also become more aware of the privileges I have and strive to use them to make a positive difference in the lives of others.
In conclusion, my encounter with the homeless individuals in the city was a life-changing experience that opened my eyes to the realities of homelessness. It taught me the importance of compassion, empathy, and the power of human connection. I will never forget the lessons I learned and the impact those individuals had on my life.

The surprising fact that I discovered during my first year at the university was that quite a bignumber of students were solely motivated by the academic degree they would obtain upongraduation. Certainly, I would not go anywhere near so far as to doubt the social and economicvalue that a degree would bring to students in future. However, I deem it too nar row forstudents to maintain this kind of attitude towards their studi
es.In my mind, university life contain s many enjoyable things, such as new ideas, good booksand brilliant people. And the pursuit of new ideas, the reading of good books and the camp usf riends hip r equire a student's complete devotion but will shine in his whole life.
Probably this tendency is rooted in the vocation-oriented and the career-oriented motivation. If a student discovers his vocation, he finds a life-time pleas ure in pursuing his profession. Bycontrast, a career-oriented student tends to take the academic certificate as an only means topreferment.
In conclusion, the university provides students with many golden opportunities, getting adegree being one of them. The challenge of new ideas, the leisure to read and the chance tomeet people are equally important. Anyway, a broad mind adds so much to the value of adegree.

In colleges and universities, the phenomenon of students' skipping classes is not unusual. There are often some students who skip those classes for feeling unwell or other private reasons. Besides, still some students don't go to class without any reason but for they don't want to.
There are two main reasons for college students' skipping classes. First, compared with in middle school, students have more freedom in college. It depends more on one student's consciousness whether he will attend the class. So those students lacking self-discipline begin to skip classes. Second, some teachers' lectures could not attract students' interests so that some students would rather skip classes to study what they are interested in.
For whatever reasons, skipping classes does bring negative effects on students' study. Therefore, it is necessary to take some effective measures to reduce this phenomenon. On the one hand, the school and teachers should make students realize the negative effects of skipping classes and enhance their consciousness of attending the class. On the other hand, teachers have to improve their teaching quality to attract students’ interests in the courses. Only in this way can the phenomenon of skipping classes be reduced as soon as possible.
